Lauren Bergiel, CMHCI, PCC

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”

– Anaïs Nin –

Lauren Bergiel works with adults who are capable, accomplished, and outwardly successful—yet feel burned out, depressed, anxious, or quietly disconnected from themselves. Many of her clients arrive at moments when what once worked no longer does: burnout, illness, loss, identity shifts, or a growing sense that life has drifted out of alignment.

Since 2020, Lauren has supported hundreds of individuals through meaningful personal and professional change as a life and leadership coach, including through her work with BetterUp. This depth of experience informs her counseling work, particularly with thoughtful, high-functioning clients who are accustomed to pushing through—often at the expense of their own needs.

Lauren’s approach is person-centered, relational, and collaborative. She offers a space where clients don’t need to perform, self-edit, or arrive with answers. Therapy centers on slowing down, being genuinely heard, and reconnecting with one’s own inner wisdom.

She integrates ACT, CBT, DBT, mindfulness-based practices, parts work, and narrative exploration to help clients understand the patterns shaping their experience, relate to thoughts and emotions with greater flexibility, and gently re-author stories that no longer fit who they are becoming. For clients who appreciate creative approaches, expressive arts may be used selectively as a supportive tool rather than a requirement.

As a breast cancer survivor and someone who has navigated major life and career transitions, Lauren understands how disorienting it can be when identity, priorities, or direction suddenly shift. This lived understanding shapes her steady, attuned presence as clients grieve, recalibrate, and move toward a more authentic way of living.

Lauren offers virtual counseling to adults throughout Illinois and practices under clinical supervision while completing her Master’s degree in Counseling and Human Development.
