“All the buried seeds crack open in the dark the instant they surrender to a process they can’t see.”

COVID-19 NOTICE: Due to the current health crisis, all therapy sessions will be held online until further notice, and are covered by most insurance companies even though they are not in-person.
Maybe you’re someone who has seen a counselor before or maybe counseling has been a regular part of your life. If, however, this is a first for you, we know it’s a big step and want you to have a good sense of how we practice and understand therapy at Ampersand Counseling & Well-Being.
We offer counseling for individuals, couples, and families of all kinds. Whether you want to work on something individually, or want to address a conflict or grief between you and your partner or within your family, we know it can be scary, anxiety producing, and maybe even a little exciting to think about facing the difficult and unknown things in your life. We use the time and space of your therapy sessions as a container: a protected and safe space where you can talk about the fears and worries that keep you up at night, the grief and loss of having a child whose life isn’t going the way you’d imagined or hoped, the feeling that you’re just not doing a good enough job as a friend, an employee, a spouse, or a parent, or the shame of living with the knowledge of something that feels unspeakable.
You may feel the need to work on these things yourself, or it may be important to bring loved ones with you so that relationship dynamics can be healed or changed. In whatever capacity you come to see us, we honor you as the expert of your life. We will work to guide you, as well as your partner and/or family members, through a process that is respectful, honest, and careful. Many times things will feel worse before they feel better, but you will gain the tools you need in order to make sense of things, to find healing, to get stronger, and to move forward with the ability to tell the story you want to tell with your life.
